Fredi participated in the Evolve Nation Women in Creative Industries Summit Tour 2024, London, this April as a guest speaker. He was very inspirational and engaging as he shared insight into his intriguing journey and educated the audience in the path of filmmaking, sharing industry gems. Fredi has a wide knowledge in his art and maintains a professional focus throughout.

Hey man I don’t know if you remember me. I think it was about a year ago that I message you on here as I was really depressed and needed someone to talk to so I just randomly dm’d who I could. I just want to say thank you for replying. I’m now at university studying Japanese and English Literature about to live in Japan for a year next year, my life is completely different now and I just wanted to say that I never forgot how you tried to help. You invited me to your premiere which I didn’t go to because of the anxiety but the offer to be accepted was truly a blessing. So thank you for doing what you did.

Fredi was a special guest speaker at a Fundraiser that I hosted for the InsideOut project in October 2023. He was incredible in his delivery and the message he conveyed to the audience was intelligent and inspiring. His talk covered his upbringing and determination to succeed in his industry – which was well-received by the audience due to his charismatic performance.

My personal experience with the workshop was amazing. Especially with Fredi being the tutor and helping lead the way with Martina. It helped me open my mind to a lot of new things and took me out of my comfort zone with acting and understanding more about the importance of keeping my mind healthy. The whole workshop itself was very eye opening and I am extremely happy to have been a part of it.

Fredi has an emotional side and isn’t afraid to show it.  His newest venture The Power of A Woman Award which is in honour of his late mother clearly displays this 100%.  Open, honest and assuring his audience, (especially other black men) that it is ok to show your vulnerable side, because there is power in vulnerability.  Fredi highlights his challenged upbringing which in turn allows others to do the same but this is also confirmation that with strength, passion, confidence and belief, any issue can be overcome and positivity can be achieved.

In 2022, I joined Fredi Nwaka’s workshop. My experience in acting was very limited and I simply had a lack of confidence. Attending the workshops allowed me to  gain knowledge and skills. Whilst allowing me to explore which ultimately, helped me to build towards being more confident whilst performing. This work shop encouraged creative writing and allowed me to unlock my creative abilities. I made a number of friends during these weekly workshops. Friends, I really care about and have continued to positively support me.

They say a mentor is someone who walks alongside you and guides you on what you can do. Fredi Nwaka done exactly that for my daughter. He inspired her, gave her the opportunity to experience the filming industry, and is the only director who looked beyond her disabilities and gave my daughter a cameo, which as a result, restored her belief and confidence.
Fredi is an amazing inspiration to many people, and I am so appreciative of him.
